The Maldives has officially launched its Visit Maldives Year 2027 campaign at the World Travel Market (WTM) in London.
The campaign, themed “Celebrate the Sunny Side”, was introduced by Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation Mohamed Ameen and Visit Maldives Corporation Managing Director Abdulla Yasir. President Mohamed Muizzu designated 2027 as Visit Maldives Year during his presidential address to the People’s Majlis.
The initiative aims to bring together tourism businesses, local communities and international partners to showcase the range of experiences available across the Maldives, including resort celebrations, island festivals, cultural events, culinary experiences, wellness activities and marine adventures.
Minister Ameen said the campaign invites travellers to visit the Maldives in 2027, experience the country’s natural beauty and share those experiences. He noted that tourism has been recovering steadily despite earlier disruptions.
According to Ministry of Tourism figures, the Maldives welcomed more than 1.7 million tourists between January and October 2026. China was the largest source market, followed by Russia and the United Kingdom.
The Maldives is participating at WTM London with a delegation of 161 representatives, including participants from 62 tourism companies. The 2027 edition of the Visit Maldives Destination Guide was also launched at the event.
The Maldives is set to be the official host country at ITB Berlin 2027.
