The Maldives has officially launched its Visit Maldives Year 2027 campaign at World Travel Market London, inviting international travellers and industry partners to celebrate the destination throughout the coming year.

Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister Mohamed Ameen and Visit Maldives Corporation Managing Director Abdulla Yasir unveiled the initiative, themed “Celebrate the Sunny Side.” President Mohamed Muizzu designated 2027 as Visit Maldives Year during his presidential address to the Majlis.

The campaign aims to bring together resorts, local islands, communities and international partners for a coordinated programme of celebrations, festivals, cultural events, culinary experiences, wellness, adventure and marine activities. Officials said it will showcase the full range of Maldivian tourism offerings beyond the traditional luxury resort product.

Between January and October 2026 the country received more than 1.76 million tourists, with Europe accounting for nearly 57 percent of arrivals. China remained the largest single source market, followed by Russia and the United Kingdom. The Maldives is participating at WTM London with a delegation of 161 representatives, including 136 participants from 62 tourism companies.

The 2027 Visit Maldives Destination Guide was also released at the fair. Minister Ameen said the government remains committed to strengthening air connectivity and supporting the industry as arrivals recover from earlier disruptions.
