The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has seized the land occupied by Riveli Beach Restaurant because of unpaid rent.

The action was taken after the restaurant operator failed to clear outstanding dues. HDC manages large areas of reclaimed land in Hulhumale and other locations and has previously moved to recover properties when lease or rent obligations are not met.

Riveli Beach Restaurant had operated on the site for a period. Details of the total amount owed and the future use of the land have not been publicly confirmed.

The seizure is part of broader efforts by state agencies to enforce payment of rents and leases on government land.
