Dr Ali Azwar has been appointed acting managing director of Fenaka Corporation following the resignation of Mohamed Afeef Hussain from the post.

Afeef left the position after being appointed state minister at the Ministry of Housing, Land and Urban Development. Azwar assumes the acting role with immediate effect.

Fenaka is the state-owned utility company responsible for electricity, water and sewerage services in many outer islands. The change in leadership comes as the company continues efforts to improve service reliability across the atolls.

No further details on the duration of the acting appointment or a permanent successor have been announced.
